Armelia McQueen

Armelia McQueen was an American actress, singer, and comedian. She was born on January 6, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, United States, and passed away on October 3, 2002, at the age of 56 due to complications from a stroke.

McQueen began her career as a singer and performed in various musical productions throughout the 1970s, including “The Me Nobody Knows” and “Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope.” She made her film debut in the 1980 musical comedy “The Blues Brothers,” in which she played the role of “Matara.”

McQueen went on to appear in several other films, including “Ghost” (1990), “The Nutty Professor” (1996), and “Bulworth” (1998). She also had a recurring role on the TV series “Moesha” in the late 1990s.

In addition to her work in film and television, McQueen was also a talented stage actress. She appeared in several Broadway productions, including “Ain’t Misbehavin'” and “The Gospel at Colonus,” for which she received critical acclaim.

McQueen was known for her comedic timing and her ability to bring joy to audiences. She was a beloved member of the entertainment community, and her contributions to the arts continue to be celebrated today.
