Charlie Chaplin was an English comic actor and filmmaker who rose to fame in the silent film era. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest comedians of all time and is considered a cultural icon. Chaplin wrote, directed, produced, edited, and starred in a number of films, including “The Kid”, “The Gold Rush”, and “Modern Times”. He was known for his character “The Tramp”, a downtrodden and comic figure who wore large boots, a tight coat, and a derby hat. Chaplin’s films continue to be popular and are considered masterpieces of silent cinema. He passed away in 1977 at the age of 88.
