Eddie Murphy is an American comedian, actor, writer, and singer. He was born on April 3, 1961, in Brooklyn, New York City, United States.
Murphy began his career as a stand-up comedian in the early 1980s, performing on the comedy circuit and on the TV show “Saturday Night Live”. He quickly became known for his impressions of celebrities such as Stevie Wonder and Bill Cosby, and for his original characters, including Gumby and Buckwheat.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Murphy became a box office sensation, starring in a series of hit comedies, including “48 Hrs.” (1982), “Trading Places” (1983), “Beverly Hills Cop” (1984), and “Coming to America” (1988). He also lent his voice to the character of Donkey in the popular “Shrek” franchise.
In addition to his work in film and television, Murphy is also an accomplished singer and musician. He has released several albums over the years and has had several hits on the music charts, including “Party All the Time” and “Put Your Mouth on Me.”
