John Hurt was a highly acclaimed British actor. He appeared in numerous films, television programs, and stage productions during his career, which spanned over six decades. Some of his most memorable and notable roles include the lead character in the film “Midnight Express” (1978), Winston Smith in the film adaptation of George Orwell’s novel “1984” (1984), and as the “elephant man” in the film “The Elephant Man” (1980). He received numerous awards and nominations for his performances, including four BAFTA Awards, two Golden Globe nominations, and an Academy Award nomination. Hurt died in 2017 at the age of 77.
