Steve McQueen was an American actor. He was a leading figure in the genre of cool and was one of the biggest box office draws of the 1960s and 1970s. McQueen is best known for his roles in films such as “The Magnificent Seven” (1960), “The Great Escape” (1963), “Bullitt” (1968), “The Thomas Crown Affair” (1968), and “Papillon” (1973). He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in “The Sand Pebbles” (1966). McQueen died in 1980 at the age of 50.
