Born in Antigua, British West Indies, Vivian Bonnell was an actress and calypso singer. She made her Broadway debut in 1954, starring alongside Pearl Bailey in the musical “House of Flowers”. Bonnell and her fellow cast members recorded calypso albums under the name “Enid Mosier and her Trinidad Steel Band”. She later changed her name and married one of the performers, Austin Stoker.
Bonnell continued her career in film and television, appearing in various American TV movies and other productions. Tragically, she passed away at the age of 79 in Los Angeles on November 18, 2003, due to complications from diabetes.
